- Guitar & Vocals (Sometimes Bass)
Growing up in a musical home with a multi-instrumentalist father and songwriter for a Nashville music publishing company, Matt has been around music his entire life. He first picked up the trumpet in 5th grade but soon learned he had a passion for many instruments, playing guitar and bass through high-school and attending South Carolina’s prestigious Fine Arts Center.
Soon after high-school Matt began touring the country with a variety of bands including award-winning Seconds Flat and The Lackies. After seeing the States, Matt decided to try his hand at sound-design for films and theatre in New York with Marc Gwinn (Drama Desk recipient). Deciding that the creation of music was where his true passion was Matt moved back to Greenville, SC to start up his own commercial recording studio. Honing his chops on guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, piano, dobro, Ukulele, harmonica, drums, auxiliary percussion and vocals.
With the studio off the ground Matt began producing records and performing on various projects including Grammy winning Yonrico Scott’s latest studio album, Whitney Walters, Melle Augustine, Charles Hedgepath, and his own band Red Against Green.
Through Matt’s career he’s had the pleasure to share the stage with such artists as Grammy winner Christian Bush from Sugarland, Jucifer, The Old 97’s Marshall Tucker Band and Sara Evans. Whether it be country, funk, blues, rock or R&B – Matt is comfortable in all genres of music. In addition to running Sit-N-Spin, Matt also is the music columnist for an online magazine called Fete.
